Rainbow Law is a new division of Dean Wilson Laing.  It is a dedicated service for the gay community.  DWL has of course acted for lots of gay people over the years but never before has it been highlighted that gay people have different legal needs.

Most people feel nervous about visiting a solicitor even for conveyancing.  Gay people also feel awkward because they have to discuss their personal lives in an ‘official’ setting.  Even questions like- ‘Are you buying the house on your own?’ causes squirming.  Even if the po-faced lawyer does not say anything somehow the impression is conveyed of disapproval.  With a name like Rainbow Law assumptions of heterosexuality are overturned.  The smiling solicitor will be aghast if the client isn’t gay!

It is well known that there are a lot of gay people living in Brighton & Hove.  It is relatively easy to be openly gay in the city by the sea.  That is far from the case however in many parts of England & Wales.  One of the aims of Rainbow Law is to give to people living outside Brighton & Hove some of the ease of the seaside city.  With modern technology there is no reason why most legal services cannot be provided by post or e-mail.  This is certainly true for conveyancing and wills.  But there are other areas where Rainbow Law can help.
